Dear Parent,

Our London adventure is just a few short weeks away. On Wednesday night, 23 February, 144 students and adults will board buses for a magical visit to London. The students are looking forward to another safe, exciting trip and I plan to try to make this the best trip ever!

Please complete the attached "London Trip Selection Sheet" and return it to school by Friday January 21st. I need to know the following information concerning your London trip: (1) if you want a ticket to a Saturday matinee, (3) if you wish to tour Canterbury Cathedral, and (3) do you plan to participate in the trip to Windsor castle on Saturday.

There is a trip meeting scheduled for Tuesday the 8th of February at 1900 hours in the Baumholder Playhouse. All students participating in the trip are required to attend this meeting and bring at least one of their parents. We will go over all the details of the trip, discuss the rules, and answer any questions you might have. You may order British pounds at the meeting and pick them up at the Community Bank the day before the trip. Attached is a tentative schedule of our trip.

Below are some tips to help you prepare for our London Adventure:

  1. Pack carefully - you will be gone for 5 days not 5 weeks. Each person may bring one (1) suitcase and one (1) overnight bag. Picnic coolers may not be carried on board the bus or packed as luggage. Last year we had so much luggage that many suitcases had to be packed on the bus. Please keep your luggage to the minimum items needed for the trip!
  2. Order your British pounds at least 3 days in advance from the Community Bank. (or order them at the meeting).
  3. Students who desire help managing their money should bring a zippered pouch labeled with their name. I will keep these locked in the hotel safe. Each morning after breakfast and each night before we depart for the theater you will be able to withdraw money from your stash.
  4. Bring a change of clothing on the bus so you can freshen up after the long bus and ferry ride.
  5. Plan on at least $100.00 for food. London is an EXPENSIVE city.

Write down any questions you think of, and I will answer them at the meeting on February 8th. Feel free to contact me at home and or at school if your have questions or suggestions about our trip

Sincerely,

Bob Hartline, Band Director
