Pep Band practice for the week of December 6th will be Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:10 - 4:30 so come join the party.

The 19th Annual Baumholder Rock-A-Thon raised over $9400.00 on November 12-13, 2004. Most of the money will help pay for students to travel to London in March.

The Kaiserslautern DSO approved the London Music/Video Study trip to London, England for March 1-6, 2004. Students will receive the letter and contracts in class on Tuesday October 26th and 27th. The first payment will be due on November 15th. You will be able to see breaking news about the trip on this website. Stay turned for more exciting details!

Students will report back to school on Tuesday, September 7th to begin school year 2004-05. Baumholder High School has 10 new teachers on staff this year.

The first day of school students will go to all 7 classes and seminar. Starting on Wednesday the normal Maroon and Gold schedule will begin. Intermediate Band and Advanced Band members will need their instruments in class on Wednesday.

Six Advanced Band members have been accepted for the DoDDS Honors Band for 2004. Jill Cannizzo, Tiffany Brown, Erin Lahan, and Cassie Moss were accepted for the band and Ebony Stevenson and Yasmin Johnson are alternates.

We've finally gotten through our concert. I have to say that the tubas and trumpets did exceptionally well! No, really everyone did good. A few people in the audience said they even got chills from us playing, meaning we did it right. Of course there was a problem here and there, but nothings perfect. When we started these songs, everyone thought, "We're screwed." Now look at us! We conquered the music. Everyone have a good winter break and come back ready for more.

New studies show factors responsible for enhanced response to music Effects of growing up in a musical environment and how music may be used as therapy In new studies, scientists are uncovering the factors responsible for an enhanced brain electrical response to music; the effects on the brain of growing up in a musical or non-musical environment; and which areas of the brain process different aspects of music including speaking and singing. One study finds that positive emotions induced by pleasant music can have an analgesic effect on people, pointing to a possible role for music in pain management therapy.

For the 18th year Baumholder Band and Chorus students rocked the night away to raise money for the music department and the trip to London next March. The 36 students have pledges totaling $8700.00 or more than $248.00 per person.
